The Desde La Bahía Calendar is now in its fourth Edition. The calendar began as a way of acknowledging the many musicians who have dedicated their lives to Salsa and Latin jazz. I began collecting birthdays and working with photographers and musicians to gather images reflecting the vibrancy and history of our resident artists. Today, the calendar has one of the largest collections of Latin musician’s birthdays anywhere.
In this 2007 DLB Calendar we expand our horizons recognizing Latin music greats from New York City. Nueva York has had a strong influence on the Bay Area going back to the 1940s-50s when Tito Puente and Machito inspired dancers and musicians performing for dances at Sweet‘s Ballroom in Oakland. There are also the many New Yorkers who relocated here bringing their music and culture with them.
The 2007 DLB Calendar includes vintage photos of Manny Oquendo, Charlie Palmieri, Mongo Santamaria, Vicentico Valdes, Willie Bobo, Ray Barretto, Joe Cuba, Carmen Miranda, Tito Rodroguez, Joe Loco, Pete Terrace, Luis Kant, Pete Terrace, Eddie Palmieri, La Lupe. High quality paper, the pictures are suitable for framing.
